The JAK-550S Grapple Saw is a heavy-duty excavator attachment designed for safe, efficient tree felling, cutting and handling. Built in Finland for 12–25 tonne excavators, it combines a powerful hydraulic chainsaw, optional 360° rotation and a secure 3x2 grapple design, with an impressive 550mm maximum cutting diameter.
What really sets the JAK-550S apart is its remarkably simple hydraulic setup. Thanks to an innovative electro-hydraulic control system, all grapple, saw and rotation functions operate through just one double-acting hydraulic circuit – requiring only one hydraulic supply and one return. This simplifies installation and operation, without the need for multiple auxiliary hydraulic circuits.
Compared to a Tree Shear, a grapple saw provides a guaranteed cut diameter irrespective of how hard the timber is. However they are higher maintenance.
