Our History

Taskpower's origins extend all the way back to 1964, when two young ex-orchardists started servicing motor vehicles and farm machinery. This concern soon became known as Nelson Equipment Centre - the region's leading small equipment retailer.

Our first load of imported log splitters hit the shores in 1994. Since then we have been importing a range of equipment and working with factories overseas to optimise equipment for NZ conditions.

In 2008 Nelson Equipment Centre was sold and became a Stihl Shop. Taskpower NZ Ltd was incorporated and took over all imported lines.

Since 2008 we have continued to grow. In 2011 we took on the Groundhog aerators, taking on a new journey in manufacturing. In 2016 we moved to our current Bolt Rd premises.

Throughout our journey, it is very clear that our continued commitment to quality products and quality aftersales service is what matters most. We are committed to customer satisfaction and stand behind our products when things go wrong.

Where our products come from

We source equipment from all around the world - North America, Europe and Asia - as well as manufacturing some products right here in NZ. We work with all our suppliers to ensure they meet ethical standards and have robust supply chain processes to ensure parts and backup availability for long after the purchase is made. We also innovate with our suppliers, making adjustments to equipment to ensure machines will work in NZ's conditions - which are often the toughest in the world.
