WHY A SMOKEY GOAT MOWER IS BETTER THAN A RIDE-ON MOWER FOR PADDOCKS

Choosing the right mower for your property is essential.
The Smokey Goat Topper Mower, designed to be towed behind an ATV, offers a purpose-built solution for larger, tougher areas. With features tailored for rugged conditions, fuel efficiency, and operator comfort, it stands out as a more cost effective, capable and reliable alternative.
This guide compares the Smokey Goat Topper Mower with traditional ride-on mowers, highlighting key differences in design, performance, and suitability for various terrains.

RIDE ON MOWER |
OPEN FRONT EDGE OF DECK - allows the grass into the cutter deck easily. Cutter blades strike tall standing grass for clean cut action. |
CLOSED FRONT EDGE OF DECK -comes down to the same height as the blade causing long grass to bend over. It's harder to cut bent grass & results in a chewed rough finish. |
|
REAR DISCHARGE - Allows the grass to exit without restriction. No blockages. |
SIDE DISCHARGE - Grass is ejected through a smaller side chute - more likely to get blocked. |
|
FLAT BLADES - use less power, so less fuel is consumed. The cutting is quieter and faster. Swing Tip Blades will swing back when striking a solid object (ie a rock / log). |
FLUTED BLADES - create wind and are designed to throw grass. Not needed for cuƫting paddock grasses. More power is needed, which uses more fuel, and creates more noise! Bar Blades will strike solid objects (ie rock / log) with full force causing damage to the mower.

ATV’s ARE MADE FOR SLOPES Safer & more comfortable with suspension, a sprung seat, and a seatbelt. ATV's vibrate less than a ride-on as the mower is connected to the rear of the vehicle only by the drawbar. Much safer with grip tyres & it's a heavy vehicle with a good steering system. |
NOT DESIGNED FOR ROUGH TERRAIN No suspension makes for a bumpy ride! No seat restraint & little or no side support makes it likely you will slide around the seat and could fall off on slopes!
